Department of psychiatry started working in the month of Nov. 1990. Initially it was housed in the mother dept. i.e., Dept. of Medicine and since Jan 1991 it is working as independent dept.
Dr. Satyanarayana, Head of the dept. along with his highly qualified and dedicated assistants has been treating the psychiatric patients not only from the home district but also from neighboring districts.
The dept. is well equipped with facilities like electro convulsive therapy and other psychological test materials.
Dept. of Psychiatry runs an epilepsy Clinic, Sex Clinic, Alcohol and drug addiction service.
